What should I do if I need a transducer other than the transom mount included in the box?

Sales Tax is charged for the following states:

AL, AR, AZ, CA, CT, FL, GA, HI, IA, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NE, NJ, NC, ND, NV, NY, OH, OK, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, WA, WI, and WV.

All transducer-equipped Humminbird products come standard with a transom-mounted transducer.  If you require a transducer other than transom, we highly recommend that you purchase one of our CHO models instead.  These models do not include a transducer and give you the opportunity to purchase the transducer style that you prefer.

Optional transducer types: 

Puck Transducer

  • Ideal for boats with a single-layer fiberglass hull, 1" or less thick.
  • These transducers are mounted directly through the hull, providing accurate readings without the need for a traditional transom mount.

Trolling Motor

  • Designed for most trolling motors.  NOTE:  Confirm your motor's lower unit has sufficient room for our larger imaging transducers.  Also note, imaging transducers only require the purchase of the correct trolling motor hardware kit.  
  • Mounts on the motor itself, ensuring accurate sonar data while you’re on the move. 
  • Not compatible with motors that already include built-in sonar

Portable    

  • Perfect for anglers who switch boats frequently.
  • Easily detachable and can be used on different vessels.

Thru-Hull 

  • Available in different materials (plastic, bronze, or stainless steel - model specific).
    • Bronze transducer mounting options are not recommended for Aluminum or Steel Hull boats. 

    • Plastic transducer mounting options are recommended for wooden boats.

  • Installed through the hull, providing reliable performance even in rough waters.

Ice Ducer       

  • Specifically designed for ice fishing.
  • Works by placing the transducer directly into the ice hole.
  • Only available in 2D sonar.  

If you’ve already made a unit purchase and need one of the above transducer types, don’t worry! You can exchange your transducer through our factory.  For exchange rates and model names, use the interactive tool below to determine the correct transducer for your specific requirements.  We also offer a chart at the bottom of this article.  

Transducer Exchange Guidelines

Eligibility for Transducer Credit:

  • We can only offer credit for your transom transducer if the alternate transducer was directly purchased from our Humminbird Technical Support Center by calling 800-633-1468.
  • Online purchases are not eligible for exchange.

Pricing and Shipping Details:

  • Quoted pricing is valid only when returning the transducer to our facility in Eufaula, AL, and shipping to a US address.
  • Shipments outside the US will incur higher shipping charges, and customers are responsible for any duty and brokerage fees.

Transducer Exchange Conditions:

  • We can only exchange transducers that have never been used, installed, or assembled.
  • Please include the original mounting hardware with your return.

Power Cable Reminder:

  • Occasionally, the power cable is bundled with the transducer cable. Ensure that the power cable is removed before shipping the transducer to us.

  • When reaching out, include your Fishfinder model, serial number, and the requested transducer type in your message.

Humminbird sends order and shipment confirmations for all order types.  Order confirmations are sent shortly after an order has been placed.  Shipment confirmations are sent in the evening after the shipment has been made.  

Make sure you add do_not_reply@johnsonoutdoors.com to your safe sender list so that these emails are not blocked and placed in your spam folder.  

This would include: sales orders, repair orders, credit returns and transducer exchanges.
