Minn Kota and Humminbird have been fishing partners for decades. Now, Minn Kota brings the power of Humminbird Imaging™ into one integrated fishing system, bringing trolling motors, fish finders, sonar, mapping, shallow water anchors and more together in a single, seamless experience - all under the Minn Kota brand.

The integrated Minn Kota System connects what your fish finder sees with what your trolling motor does, using sonar and mapping information to enable compatible auto-navigation and precise boat positioning so you can stay focused on fishing.

New and Updated Features:

• More than one MEGA Live 2 transducer can now be used at the same time without experiencing interference between them.  Note that it is recommended that transducers being used together at the same time remain installed within 6 FT (2m) of each other.

General Update Notes:

• Improved down mode performance.
• Improved hard return performance.
• Improved an issue with “rings” in the sonar return over hard bottoms in down mode while ice fishing.
• Improved fish, bait, and jig tracking.

Important Notes and Prerequisites

PLEASE NOTE:

X SERIES, XPLORE, SOLIX G3, and APEX version 7.400 or newer is recommended to use MEGA Live 2 software version 2.270.  

Download and Update Instructions

There are three different options for downloading and updating software:

Download and Update with fish finder using WiFi:

1. Power on you fish finder Unit.
2. Select Home.
3. Select Network + Devices
   
4. Select Wi-Fi Updates, enable Wi-Fi, and choose your wireless network. Enter the network password if required, then connect to proceed with software updates.   
   
5. Select Network + Updates and then select Check for Updates. 
   
6. Your unit will then check for updates. 
   
7. You will now have the option to select Update All Now to update all networked devices or choose the devices you want to update. Note: We recommend keeping the software on all of your products up to date to ensure optimal performance and access to the latest features.

Update Software Using the Minn Kota Fishing App

• Preparing for the Update
  • Before beginning any update, ensure the following criteria are met:
    The Minn Kota Fishing app on your smartphone is up to date.
  • (Mobile devices only) Click here to download the Minn Kota Fishing App for iOS: version 6.010
  • (Mobile devices only) Click here to download the Minn Kota Fishing App for Android: version 6.010 
• The smartphone has Bluetooth enabled.
• The smartphone is paired with the trolling motor.  Follow these instructions to pair the smartphone to the trolling motor.
  • Enable Bluetooth on the smartphone.
    • For Apple iOS - Open the “Settings” menu. Select “Bluetooth”, then select “On”. Keep the Bluetooth menu open and continue to the next procedure.
    • For Google Android - Open the “Settings” menu. Select “Bluetooth”, then select “On”. Keep the Bluetooth menu open and continue to the next procedure. NOTICE: Android devices must press Scan to locate the device in the Bluetooth list.

1. Open the Minn Kota Fishing app on the smartphone.
2. Open “Network + Updates” window  
   
3. Once in Network + Updates window, the current “APEX 6.090 Package” version will display as “Installed Package” in white text.  New Package version will display as “Available Package” for any integrated fish finders or accessories with available updates with the option to Download Update to the right. 
   
4. Select “Download Update” to the right of Minn Kota Motor 4.0 Package.  This will download the available Package File that includes updated software for all connected trolling motor components to the mobile device.  This process will happen quickly.
5. To complete the Software Update click transfer update. Note: This process can take several minutes to complete. 
6. Once the transfer is complete you will see Network + Updates on the fish finder. 

Update Software Using an SD Card:

• Save the .up2 file to your PC (this will most likely be saved in your Downloads folder) and move the .up2 file to your SD card.
• Connect the SD card to your computer and ensure it is detected.
• Open File Explorer
• Locate the update file in your Downloads section (see example below)
  Example:
• Cut/copy and paste the desired files from your computer to your SD card. You can also drag and drop items.
  • Tip: If you use the “Cut and Paste” method, the files will only be saved on your SD card, freeing up space on your local disk.
  • If you use the “Copy and Paste” method, you’ll get a duplicate of the chosen files, keeping a backup on your computer.
• Once the file has successfully saved on your card, safely disconnect your SD card.

Software Update Instructions

NOTICE! Keep the unit powered on until the update is complete to avoid instability or data loss.

• Before you begin: make sure to remove any other card that may be present, such as a LakeMaster, Zero Lines, Navionics, etc., from the unit before initializing the new update.

  Using the Minn Kota Fishing App:

  Two Methods to Update with an SD Card:

  Method 1: Automatic file recognition, recommended if you want to update you unit immediately.

  Method 2: Update later from the Files Widget

  Update Method 1

  1. Power on your APEX and follow the on-screen prompts to start in Normal Mode
  2. Insert the SD or Micro SD card containing the update file(s) into the control head card slot.
  3. A dialog box will display to start the software update as shown below.
  4. Select Install to begin the software update.
     • If you wish to update later, select Cancel, and follow steps in Method 2 when you are ready to update.
  5. Your APEX or will restart automatically upon completion.

  Update Method 2

  1. With software update card already in the unit, power on and follow the on-screen prompts to start in Normal Mode.
  2. Press the HOME key
  3. Tap the Network and Devices icon. 
     
  4. Tap Network + Updates. 
  5. Confirm that the most current version of software is selected from the list. Select Check for Updates
     
  6. Any available updated will be displayed.
     • Important! Do NOT remove the SD card or power off your fish finder until the software update is complete.
