Configuring my Fish Finder for AIRMAR Transducers

AIRMAR Transducer Fish Finder Setup

AIRMAR Frequency Bands | A Series, X Series and APEX, XPLORE and SOLIX G3 | SOLIX G1/G2 and ONIX | HELIX CHIRP Models

A Series, X Series, APEX, XPLORE, SOLIX, ONIX and HELIX CHIRP models include settings for supported AIRMAR transducers. For proper operation, the fish finder must use the frequency band and Start and End frequencies supported by the connected AIRMAR transducer.

Use the AIRMAR Transducer Selection Guide to identify the supported frequency range for your transducer.

AIRMAR Frequency Bands

Traditional and CHIRP-ready AIRMAR transducers are classified into four frequency bands:

  • Low
  • Medium
  • High
  • High Wide

Each transducer has a specified Start and End frequency range.

Example: A Medium-frequency transducer may operate from 95 to 155 kHz.

Some AIRMAR transducers support more than one frequency band. For example:

  • Low: 40 to 75 kHz
  • High: 130 to 210 kHz

Important: Your fish finder can only be configured to use one frequency band at a time.

A Series, X Series and APEX, XPLORE and SOLIX G3

A Series, X Series and APEX, XPLORE and SOLIX G3 models can detect and automatically configure for AIRMAR transducers.

If the fish finder does not correctly detect or configure the connected AIRMAR transducer, the frequency settings may need to be configured manually.  See instructions for SOLIX G1/G2 and ONIX.

SOLIX G1/G2 and ONIX

For SOLIX G1/G2 and ONIX, first select the appropriate 2D Frequency Capability, then set the Start and End frequencies to match the AIRMAR transducer.

Set the 2D Frequency Capability
  1. Identify the AIRMAR transducer's frequency band: Low, Medium, High or High Wide.
  2. Press HOME.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. For SOLIX, select CHIRP Sonar. For ONIX, select Sonar.
  5. Select Sonar Source.
  6. Select Initial Setup.
    • If Initial Setup was previously completed, select the applicable menu icon.
  7. Turn off Auto-Configure.
  8. Make sure 2D Sonar is checked.
  9. Select 2D Frequency Capability.
  10. Select the option that matches your AIRMAR transducer.
AIRMAR Frequency Band SOLIX Setting ONIX Setting
Low AIRMAR Low Frequency Generic Low Frequency
Medium AIRMAR Medium Frequency Generic Medium Frequency
High AIRMAR High Frequency Generic High Frequency
High Wide HB HW CHIRP HB High CHIRP

Note: An AIRMAR transducer may support multiple frequency bands, but only one frequency band can be used at a time.

Configure the Start and End Frequencies
  1. Press HOME.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. For SOLIX, select CHIRP Sonar. For ONIX, select Sonar.
  4. Select Frequency Spectrum.
  5. Depending on the frequency capability selected above, the menu may identify the spectrum as Low, Medium, High or Full.
  6. Use the on-screen sliders or dial knob to set the Start Frequency and End Frequency to match the operating range of your AIRMAR transducer.

HELIX CHIRP Models

HELIX CHIRP models require you to select the appropriate Connected Transducer frequency band, then configure the Start and End frequencies to match the AIRMAR transducer.

Select the Connected Transducer

  1. Identify your AIRMAR transducer's frequency band: Low, Medium, High or High Wide.
  2. Press MENU twice to open the Main Menu.
  3. Use the LEFT or RIGHT Cursor key to select Sonar.
  4. Use the UP or DOWN Cursor key to select Connected Transducer.
  5. Use the LEFT or RIGHT Cursor key to select the appropriate frequency band.
