Dynamic Contrast Sonar Settings

Jump To:

Side Imaging, Down Imaging, and 360 Imaging

For Side Imaging, Down Imaging, and 360 Imaging, Dynamic Contrast has two options:

  • Off
  • On

When Dynamic Contrast is turned on, the sonar return data is evaluated and the color palette contrast is automatically adjusted to optimize the usefulness of the sonar image.

Live Imaging

For MEGA Live Imaging, Dynamic Contrast provides three options:

  • High
  • Balanced
  • Low

High

Use High when there is clutter in the sonar return. This setting is best suited for shallower water and shorter ranges.

Balanced

Balanced is the default setting and is recommended for most water conditions, ranges, and depths. It provides the best overall image for general use.

Low

Use Low when greater lure-tracking performance is needed at deeper depths and longer ranges.

Previous Dynamic Contrast Settings

The Dynamic Contrast settings were previously named:

  • Off
  • 1
  • 2

These settings were changed to reflect updated capabilities and tuning beginning with HELIX software version 2.750 and SOLIX/APEX software version 4.070.
