Freshwater Built-In Transducers Lower Unit Dimensions
-
Your trolling motor may come with a Mega Side and Down Imaging (MSI), Mega Down Imaging (MDI), Dual Spectrum CHIRP (DSC), or a Universal Sonar 2 (US2) transducer built into the lower unit. The built-in transducer may interfere with mounting an external transducer, depending on the size of the external transducer. Also, having 2 transducers that close to each other, may cause interference.
- Dimensions for 3.25" (3 1/4), 3.62" (3 5/8), 4", and 4.5" (4 1/2) including QUEST Freshwater built-in sonar motors are provided below:
QUEST Motors with Built in MEGA Imaging MDI, MSI, or Dual Spectrum CHIRP (DSC)
- Note: Due to the size of QUEST lower units with Built-In transducers it is not recommended to attempt to mount an external transducers to these motors.

Mounting an External Transducer Instructions
- The instructions include steps for installation on motor equipped with Auto Deploy/Stow/Trim, Lift Assist, Bow-Mount, and Transom-Mount motors.
Mounting an External Transducer on an Auto Stow/Deploy
-
*Note: When installing an external transducer on an Ulterra, Riptide Ulterra or Riptide Instinct QUEST, you need to be careful that the transducer cable does not get pinched when the motor is stowed and deployed.
- Mount the External Transducer according to directions provided with the transducer.
- Leave enough slack in the Transducer Cable between the Lower Unit and Control Head to allow the motor to properly stow and deploy.
- Use two tie wrap cables to secure the Transducer Cable to the Shaft just above the Lower Unit and just below the Control Head.
- Run the Transducer Cable through the Coil Cord to the power supply.
Mounting an External Transducer on a Non-Auto Stow/Deploy
- Mount the External Transducer according to directions provided with the transducer.
- Leave enough slack in the Transducer Cable between the Lower Unit and Control Head to allow the motor to properly stow and deploy.
- Use two tie wrap cables to secure the Transducer Cable to the Shaft just below the Control Head.
- Run the Transducer Cable through the Coil Cord to the power supply.
Mounting an External Transducer on an Ultrex
- Mount the External Transducer according to directions provided with the transducer.
- Leave enough slack in the Transducer Cable between the Lower Unit and Control Head to allow the motor to properly stow and deploy.
- Use two tie wrap cables to secure the Transducer Cable to the Shaft just above the Lower Unit and just below the Control Head.
- Run the Transducer Cable through the Coil Cord to the power supply.
Mounting an External Transducer on a Cable-Steer Bow-Mount Motor
- Mount the external transducer according to directions provided with the transducer.
- Leave enough slack in the transducer cable between the Lower Unit and Control Head to allow the motor to properly stow and deploy.
- Use two Tie Wrap Cables to secure the transducer cable to the Shaft just above the Lower Unit and just below the Control Head.
- Run the transducer cable along the Pedal Control Sleeve Assembly toward the Foot Pedal
Mounting and External Transducer to Transom Mount Motor
- Mount the external transducer according to directions provided with the transducer.
- Leave enough slack in the transducer cable between the Lower Unit and Bracket to allow the motor to properly stow and deploy.
-
Use two Tie Wrap Cables to secure the transducer cable to the Shaft just above the Lower Unit and just below the Control Head.
Mounting an External Transducer on a Legacy Terrova with Lift Assist
-
- Mount the External Transducer according to the directions provided with the transducer.
- Leave enough slack in the Transducer Cable between the Lower Unit and the Control Head to allow the motor to properly stow and deploy.
- Use 2 tie wrap cables to secure the Transducer Cable just above the Lift Assist Collar or Depth Collar and just below the Control Head.
- Run the Transducer Cable through the Coil Cord to the Fishfinder and/or power supply.
