Humminbird’s ICE Series flashers are purpose-built for ice fishing, delivering real-time sonar performance in harsh winter conditions. To help you get the most out of your unit, here’s what you need to know about its capabilities, limitations, and key specifications.
Designed for Stationary Use
ICE Series flashers are engineered exclusively for ice fishing. Their sonar algorithms are optimized for stationary operation, meaning they are not intended for use on a moving boat in open water. For best results, keep your unit in a fixed position while fishing through the ice.
Transducer Compatibility
Each ICE Series flasher—ICE 35, ICE 45, and ICE 55—comes with an XI 9 19 ice transducer. This transducer is not compatible with other Humminbird products such as the 300, 500, 700, or HELIX Series.
However, if you want to use an ice transducer with those models, Humminbird offers alternatives:
- XI 9 20: Designed for most non-CHIRP models.
- XI 9 1521 CHIRP: Recommended for HELIX 5 and HELIX 7 CHIRP G2/G2N and newer units.
Battery and Charger Specifications
Powering your ICE Series flasher is simple:
- ICE 35 & ICE 45: Equipped with a 7 amp-hour battery and charger.
- ICE 55: Comes with a 9 amp-hour battery and charger.
Depth Coverage
Your flasher uses two sonar beams:
- 240 kHz beam: Covers approximately one-third of the water depth.
-
455 kHz beam: Covers about one-sixth of the depth.
For example, in 30 feet of water, the 240 kHz beam provides 10 feet of bottom coverage, while the 455 kHz beam covers 5 feet.
Target and Display Separation
Precision matters when identifying fish and structure:
- Zoom Mode Target Separation: 2 inches.
- Normal Mode Target Separation: 2.5 inches.
-
Display Separation: Better than ½ inch, thanks to 526 display segments. For instance, in 20 feet of water, the calculation is:
(20 ÷ 526) × 12 = 0.45 inches.
Fiber-Optic Flasher Display
The ICE Series features a bright, multi-colored fiber-optic display that shows sonar returns in real time. You’ll see the bottom, your lure, and fish movements with exceptional clarity, helping you react instantly to changing conditions.
Factory Testing Connector
On the back of your ICE Series flasher, you’ll notice a middle connector. This is reserved for factory testing and is not intended for consumer use.
