To further assist with compatibility, we encourage you to use the One-Boat Network Builder tool as well.
Check for Power
Look for the steady amber light indicating power to the switch. It is important to note that this may not be an indicator of low voltage as light will stay on down to 6 Volts.
As with all of our products, Voltage under load needs to consistently be 11V or above for full operation.
Check for LED Light Indicators
- An Amber blinking light will indicate one of the following is connected: – XPLORE, HELIX G3N, HELIX G4N, Radar, AS ETH NMEA2K, and i-Pilot Link /Advanced GPS Navigation.
- A Green blinking light will indicate one of the following is connected: APEX, SOLIX, MEGA Live, MEGA Live TL, AS ETH 5PGL, and AS ETH 5PXG.
- No Light – Indicates there is no activity to the port.
- Lights on ports 1-5 will blink to show network activity. A steady light on anything port but power, may indicate an issue.
Check Network Capacity
- Networks with a mix of AS ETH 5PXG and AS ETH 5PGL will be limited to the capacity of the AS ETH 5PXG. The max number of switches that can be daisy chained is still 3 and the max number of units in the network is still 4.
- Networks exclusively using the AS ETH 5PGL will be able to network up to 6 compatible Humminbird units and daisy chain 5 AS ETH 5PGL switches.
Check for Multipaths and Network Loops
A Humminbird network can only have one path between products in the network. The network will not work correctly if a multipath or loop is present, as represented by the image above.
General Network Troubleshooting
- Confirm all necessary Ethernet Cables and Adapters are being used.
- Check for cable damage and broken pins.
- Bypass the network switch and connect directly to determine functionality
- Remove SD/microSD cards one at a time, testing functionality at each step.
- Check for corrupt nav data
- Check for IP Addresses on all networked Humminbird units.
-
APEX, XPLORE and SOLIX Only: When using the AS ETH 5PXG, Make sure the AS ETH 5PXG shows in the network info.
- NOTE! the AS ETH 5PGL will NOT display on network info.
- Capture screen shot of System Status or Network Info screens BEFORE contacting Technical Support.
