Side Imaging (SI) Background Pinging Setting

Side Imaging (SI) Background pinging is a setting that controls whether Side Imaging frequencies will continue to ping, even when the Side Imaging view is not active on the screen of your Humminbird unit. When SI Background Pinging is turned “Off,” it will provide enhanced Down Imaging performance. However, users should be aware that when they change to a screen with Side Imaging with SI Background Pinging turned “Off”, the unit will not have gathered sonar history for Side Imaging sonar during anytime that the Side Imaging view was not shown on the screen.

When the user has the SI Background Pinging turned “On,” all previous Side Imaging sonar history can be seen, even for times when Side Imaging was not being viewed on the screen.
