APEX can be used as a display only for the following types of devices. The touchscreen and side panel controls will not affect or work with the device connected.
iOS Devices
- iPhone 8 and later are supported.
- Can be adapter sensitive. Our testing has been with the Apple brand for most consistent performance
- Screen mirrors the phone or tablet's display.
- Recommended that phone or tablet is up to date in software.
- If iOS device is disconnected while APEX is still on, the video screen will freeze, but APEX will work without issue.
- Video function will return normally if iOS device is reconnected.
Android Devices
- Not all Android devices are video-out capable!
- Check with device specs to confirm capability.
- Cannot Hot-plug Android devices. The Android device must be connected prior to powering the APEX on.
- If an Android device is unplugged while the APEX is still on, the APEX will have to be restarted before video functionality will return.
Laptop/PC
- Aspect/resolution adjustments may be necessary.
- If PC is disconnected while APEX is still on, the video screen will freeze, but APEX will work without issue.
- Video function will return normally if PC is reconnected.
HDMI Out
If you're experiencing issues with the Video Out function of your APEX, please note the following:
- First refer to the table above to ensure that the resolution and aspect ratio are supported.
- In most cases, the issue stems from the cable used. We strongly recommend using the HDMI cables we provide (link below).
- If you opt for a third-party cable, be aware that results may vary across different brands.
- Check that the display you are using is in good working order, and that the video input works with another device.
